Dearest Holy Spirit:
On the first Pentecost Sunday,
you transformed the first true believers
into the bride of Christ.
Transform all of us into his
chosen and beloved bride
through the metanoia of becoming one body,
holy, pure and united;
active in the service of God and
in the execution of his magnificent salvific plan
that we call the Church.
Touch us in ways that free us
from
selfishness, competition, individualism,
self-interest and self-gratification.
Pour down upon each of us
the particular gifts you have chosen for us,
so that as the foot, the ear, the eye
or whatever you have chosen us to be,
we can function well and work hard
not as "many parts, but as one body."
Bringing renewal to the church
and salvation to the whole world
through dynamic evangelization.
Holy Spirit, sanctify and empower us
and in the words of Paul,
send us forth as nothing less
than "individual parts of the body of Christ
…sharing its joy."
Mary:
Mother of the whole body of Christ,
mother of the Church
help us to be Christ
and in that way become,
like you, capable instruments
of salvation to the ends of the earth!
Amen!
