Dear Friend of THE WAY
HOME,
Peace and blessings be upon
you and your family in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! Giving thanks to
our good God, we pray that you would receive an abundance of grace as a
reward for your faithful prayer and financial support. You are indeed an
important member of our apostolate to spread the truth of Christ to the
ends of the earth.
I want to express my heartfelt
thanks to all of you for your prayers and especially to those of you who
made special contributions in December and January to the 2002-2003 Annual
Scholarship Fund for our sister ministry, the Prince of Peace Community
School.
 POPCS
is an inner-city Catholic school operated by the sponsor of THE WAY
HOME, the Christian Community of God’s Delight. Your contributions
allow us to make Catholic education available to those who would otherwise
not be able to afford it. This was our first attempt at scholarship fund
raising. Thanks to you and others like you, we were able to raise nearly
all of the $138,000 needed for the 2002-2003 school year.
We are now accepting
scholarship contributions for the 2003-2004 school year as registration
has already begun for the upcoming year. We do not want to turn any
student away because of money; with your help we won’t have to. Simply
mark on your contribution check, "POPCS Annual Fund" and the
amount of the check that you wish us to apply to the POPCS Annual
Scholarship Fund. Thank you for helping us to help the kids.
This month we are celebrating
the passing of the founder and original host of THE WAY HOME,
Bobbie J. Cavnar. Bobbie went to be with the Lord on Valentine’s Day,
February 14, 2002. Bobbie was a remarkable man of God, whom the
Lord used profoundly to champion the cause of Catholic evangelism through  television
and radio. Because of his efforts and guidance of the Holy Spirit, the
message of the saving power of Jesus Christ is proclaimed to Catholics and
non-Catholics alike in more than 50 different countries around the world.
On our website at
Lumen2000.com, we have created a tribute to Bobbie where you will find an
inspiring biographical summary of Bobbie’s life with testimonies from
those who knew and worked with him. You will also be able to view Bobbie’s
witness video where he shares the story of how Christ touched his life and
led him on his incredible journey.
As I watched the State of the
Union speech before Congress, I remember thinking about our economy and
how many people I know who are fearful for their jobs or are out of work
and cannot find a job. I shuddered as the President talked about an
impending war with Iraq. I grieved as I remembered the events of September
11, 2001, and a few weeks later I grieved again over the death of the
astronauts on the Space Shuttle Columbia.
As I reflected on all of these
things, I could not help but think how much our world still needs Jesus.
Uncertainty is everywhere, our economy, our technology, and our national
security. Where can we turn in times like these? In Mark 8: 27-29 Jesus
asked his disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" They said in
reply, "John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others one of the
prophets." And then he asked them, "But who do you say that I
am?" Peter said to him in reply, "You are the Messiah."
The Church has proclaimed
for nearly 2000 years the amazing truth that Jesus of Nazareth was not
just another good and religious man or another prophet, but that He is the
one, true Christ, the only Savior of the World. THE WAY HOME
television ministry was born out of Bobbie’s love for the Lord and his
desire to share the truth of the peace, hope and love of Jesus with as
many people as possible.
For more than 15 years now,
we have faithfully proclaimed to all who are in despair, to have faith and
hope because our help is truly in the name of the Lord God who made heaven
and earth, and in His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, Who shed His blood for
our salvation. We invite those of you who have been particularly blessed
by Bobbie and this television ministry to make a special contribution this
month in Bobbie’s memory and in thanksgiving to God for spreading the
Gospel of Christ through the work that was begun by Bobbie.
Enclosed is a return
envelope for your gift to THE WAY HOME and POPCS. Also included is
a card for you to include your prayer intentions along with your gift. It
is part of our apostolate to intercede for your prayer intentions. We are
pleased to lift them up weekly at our Community prayer gathering and
during several Masses throughout the week.
Let us praise God our
Father, as we remember the life of Bobbie Cavnar, and give thanks to God
for his life and for the legacy of this ministry and all his other work in
spreading the Good News of Jesus throughout the world. May we be inspired
by Bobbie’s example to offer ourselves with similar devotion in the
service of Christ.
With a joyful heart, I

the Lord provides the means. May the special peace, protection and love of
Christ our Lord be with you and your family this year, and may the
intercession of our Blessed Mother always go before us.
